Web Host 1&1 Launches Dedicated Servers with Windows Web Server 2008

December 17, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web host 1&1 has launched dedicated servers with Windows Web Server 2008, it was reported recently. The company, recognized as “the world's largest host by known servers”, announced that all its dedicated Windows Servers will offer Microsoft's latest operating system and be equipped with a platform that “helps users to install comprehensive web applications with just a few mouse clicks”.

Based on Internet Information Services 7 (IIS7), 1&1 explain the new operating system takes a modular approach to web applications and services and is “less vulnerable to external attacks and requires fewer server resources”. It also offers a range of administration tools including the graphical IIS manager.

Three Windows Server 2008 versions are available to 1&1 customers – an SQL Microsoft Express Edition 2008, versions with Parallels Plesk Panel 8.6, and a “minimal installation”. The Windows Server Advanced Hosting package is pre-installed enabling users to install applications such as osCommerce, DotNetNuke and Drupal and Joomla quickly and easily.

1&1 offers 5 Windows Servers versions – entry model 1&1 Business I with Dual-Core AMD Opteron 1216 Processor, RAID 1, two 250-Gigabyte hard drives and two Gigabytes of RAM, 1&1 Titan Server with Quad-Core AMD Opteron 2352 Processors, RAID 5, three hard drives and a total of 1,500 Gigabytes of storage space and the Titan Server with 16 Gigabytes of RAM.
