August 14, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web host 1&1 (http://www.1and1.co.uk) has launched a new range of dedicated servers, it was announced yesterday. According to the company, which bills itself as “the world’s largest web host by known servers”, its new servers “combine latest AMD processors, RAID and huge disk space.” Each is are available through “European data centers fully CO2 neutral with Green Energy”.
1&1 dedicated servers are available in Linux, Windows or “managed configurations” and feature a 100MBit data transfer flat rate. 1&1 servers also utilize 135 GBit connectivity via a “pan-European backbone”. The company’s new dedicated servers comprise the Business Server I (250GB disks) and Business Server II (500GB disks), both featuring software RAID1, and the Business Server III (750GB disks) and Enterprise Server I (1000GB disks) both equipped with hardware RAID1 technology. 1&1’s new Enterprise Server II (1500GB) now features hardware RAID5 technology. Linux and Windows Dedicated Servers are also provided with PLESK 8
“Whilst 1&1 is perhaps most well known for its web hosting innovations, we continue to invest much of our resource in pushing the boundaries of dedicated server packages,” 1&1 Internet’s CEO Mr. Oliver Mauss. “Users’ work can be transformed from having access to enterprise-level technologies such as RAID5, and we will continue to bring such developments within reach of as many users as possible”.
1&1 Dedicated Server packages include 50GB to 250GB free FTP back-up space. In addition, Linux and Windows servers benefit from an External Firewall based on Cisco hardware and a Geotrust SSL certificate, which can be used to secure web transactions. The company’s servers are also powered by “electricity from renewable resources like wind, water, or solar energy” helping save around “30,000 tons of CO2 per year”.
“Our extension of the Value Server range will mean that a dedicated server now becomes a financially viable solution for a greater variety of online projects,” added Mr. Mauss.
