December 7, 2006
December 7, 2006 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider 1&1 Internet has chosen Everest Connections to provide fiber for its new Lenexa technology center, it was announced recently.

“We selected Everest because their fiber offers a scalable medium for connecting our new data center with direct access to leading ISPs,” explained Andreas Gauger, Chairman, 1&1 Internet, Inc. “The line provided by Everest will be an important element for meeting our service level promise of 99.9 percent availability and is essential in bolstering our redundancy and achieving market-leading connectivity. Furthermore, the agreement with Everest also enables us to increase our bandwidth on the dark fiber as needed. The initial 10 gigabits per second can be upgraded at any time to several channels of 10 gigabits per second, so more people can swiftly interact with our customers’ websites.”

After success in Europe, 1&1 began serving North American customers in 2003. The company’s fully-automated 55,000-square-feet data center will open in early 2007 and employ 15 people. The center will accommodate 40,000 servers to cater for the company’s US customer growth.

“We welcome 1&1 to Kansas City and look forward to helping them build their operation center,” said Vice President of Everest Business Solutions (a division of Everest Connections), Mr. Ed Butler. “Technology companies require 24/7 service, and Everest prides itself on delivering solutions and services around the clock to meet those needs.”
