Web Hosting Provider iWeb to Open Colocation Data Center in Montreal

October 3, 2007
October 3, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web Hosting Provider iWeb (http://iWeb8.com) is to open a colocation data center in Montreal, Canada, it was announced yesterday. The new 22,700-square-foot center is the third data center facility the company has in Montreal, and will have an equivalent capacity of 850 cabinets. It is scheduled to open in December 2007 and the company has entered into a lease agreement for up to 30 years with options to purchase.

“A fundamental component of our strategy is to grow the colocation segment of our business,” explained iWeb’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Eric Chouinard. “The cumulative colocation hosting capacity of our two current data centers has always been limited, as they are both primarily dedicated server hosting facilities. The addition of this strictly colocation hosting data center will enable us to diversify our revenue base, extend our footprint in the Montreal marketplace and target a broader customer base.”

The new data center will offer uninterruptible power supplies, emergency diesel back-up generators and power equivalent cooling, each reaching an N+1 level of redundancy. It will be protected by a multi-layer security system that includes video surveillance, secured access, and biometric identification sensors. The center also offers 24-hour emergency technical support, ping monitoring and managed security back-ups.

Established in 1996, iWeb offers “advanced IP hosting services” through “shared hosting, dedicated servers or collocation” in three data centers totaling over 52,000 square feet of floor space. The company offers services in English, French and Spanish.
