Cloud hosting provider
SherWeb has acquired Windows-based managed hosting solutions provider OrcsWeb. The company, which was established in 1998, caters to around 25,000 customers in about 100 different countries by offering a range of SaaS and PaaS options. SherWeb's purchase sees its entry into the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) market. Financial aspects of the deal have not been released.
OrcsWeb was established in 1996 and has headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina. It provides managed hosting solutions for a broad customer base located in over 70 countries.
With four data centers in Charlotte, OrcsWeb represents SherWeb's third acquisition in the same number of years. OrcsWeb is recognized within the industry for its Microsoft hosting and "Complete Care Managed Services". It will continue to operate as an independent entity. The company was recognized as a Microsoft 2014 World Hosting Partner of the Year Finalist for its Performance Cloud Servers.
“SherWeb’s expansion into IaaS will enable us to offer customers and channel partners more value and choice from the cloud, without having to invest in or maintain complex infrastructure themselves,” explained Matthew Cassar, President and Co-founder of SherWeb. “OrcsWeb naturally complements our overall business strategy because their depth of expertise in managed Windows hosting is one of several areas of diversification that will be critical to cloud services providers in the near future.”
